So, who here has taken a look at all the loot from Domination?

    Highlights for me:
Gallows Grove, Circle’s miniature Wurmwood solo. 1 point for an advance deploying, Entropic Force equipped, arc node? I’ll take 4. They only move 5 inches a turn, but you can’t beat the utility-cost ratio.

Legionnaire character attachment. Grants set defense, the Flameguard attachment’s mini-feat, and the Soulless escort’s mage static. I can’t think of another unit attachment that buffs literally every defensive aspect of a unit. Also adds a vengeance-equipped weapon master to the unit, just for gravy.

Gatorman Witchdoctor. Special action that gives a friendly unit tough and undead. I’m sold. He also has Herding for Minion warbeasts, including the lesser Warlock’s pets, AND sacrificial strike, AND it has 8 damage boxes.

    Disappointments:
Epic Baldur. Gets +1 STR/ARM token per turn, then burns himself for each token. +arm defensive feat, no forest walker, and his best spell is Stone Wall. Pass.

Epic Grissel. Built around an awesome RoF 3, ammo type gun that is kind of ruined by range 8. Junky defensive feat that provides Unyielding and Hyper Aggressive. And Arcane Bolt? Really? Pass.

Brothers Bragg. 3-man fellcaller character unit. I’d like them a lot more if they weren’t less powerful versions of the Great Bears, which cost more, and have special rules stopping them from benefitting from fellcallers. I know I shouldn‘t compare between factions, but seriously…

I was pretty excited to see eVayl. After I read her, I wasn’t as excited. I was hoping that she would be a better beast caster than she appears to be on paper. I am hoping that she will still be good.

I am excited for Proteus and the Succubus. I am not as sold on the Legionnaire UA at this point. It takes the unit for six points to nine points. I’m not sure that is what I want on a tar pit unit.

I was fairly disappointed that the book did not have two character beasts.

I think the jury is still out on eGrissel, I want to put her on the table and see how it goes. I do agree that her feat is trash, but im hoping her other abilities might save her.

I play the bears and agree they are awesome, but i dont think the sons of bragg are completely unusable just because they arent great bears. We will see when i test them out.

Im pretty disapointed in the Electro troll as well, and im trying to withhold judgement on Roc until i get him on the table, but im not seeing why i would take him over a EBDT or Mulg.

eHexeris looks FLAT OUT AMAZING and i cant wait to get him on the table. I think he is gonna be a great tournament caster for Skorne.

I also will never leave home without eMakeda and a Archidon! Leash+ Feat + enrage + Rush = AMAZING

Im not as excited about Tiberous.. tiberion.. tibberush or whatever his name is as everyone else is.. but we will see once i play him. Its certainly hard to put a character on the table that you love when it’s in the same faction as molik karn. Having reach on a big beat stick and arm 21 certainly cant hurt.

As stated previously on the show, i was really looking forward to an Arc-Boar.. and the fact that we didnt get anything even remotely like that is sorta disappointing. Although i am pretty excited to try some Sturm and Drang with Road Hogs.

I think we will definitely be revisiting our Maelok grade with the witchdoctor!

On eVayl, I’m kind of glad that she isn’t an obvious beast warlock. She’s in a faction with eThagrosh, pVayl, and Absylonia; I understand that LoE is all about the dragonspawn, but there is so much beast support, it would be easy for her to be lost in the shuffle…

As to the Lightning Troll, I like it. It is another utility troll beast to match up with all the other elemental trolls. Lightning Generator in combination with Lightning Fists is an easy way to clear hard-to-target models via shooting your own guys. Electrostatic means that it is surprisingly resilient vs. warjacks. Electroleap animus is nice in an army that already has a +STR animus, and provides additional reach to a faction where most infantry lack it. Not fantastic, but still a solid piece. Pretty much what I was expecting.

I was a lot more excited about the Gunboar before I realized that it was toting a pair of POW 14s for melee weapons. Great for clearing infantry, but it doesn’t have the hitting power to be the only warbeast you bring along. I think that Thornfall lists will continue bringing a Warhog to every encounter…

Edit: I’ll be picking up Rok for the Doomshapers, if nothing else. Goad + Primal + Berserk on a fury 5 warbeast can kill a lot of things. The lack of reach does hurt, but I think he’s worth the extra points over a Mauler.

I was re-reading my domination book last night and realized that the sons of bragg’s ability to give +2 to hit and damage will work on Tor’s spray too, making it an assaulting RAT 8 POW 14 SP8.. im snuggling up to these guys more and more.. although the one time i have fielded them so far they didnt do anything because they got stuck in the back behind a swarm of kriel warriors. I didnt loose them.. i just didnt get a chance to really use them before the game finished. I think some things make them as good as the bears.. 1) they dont have to be in base to base.. 2) they have a spray that will hit 3) their 4+ tough should make them reasonably difficult to remove from the table

I guess only time will tell.

On Rok, i might be taking him with borka some, the +2 inches of movement on the feat plus rush means he can really move fast, plus im a big fan of the borkmiester.

I’m sure you’ve read/heard it more than once, but Rok + Axers are pretty amazing.

So Primal on Axer = MAT 8, Thresher, Reach, P/S 16, that can buy additional attacks… Thats amazing for a 6 pt light.

As far as ROK himself, he is no slouch with access to Berserk, mat 9, PS 20, before any outside buffs and with RAT 5 I wouldn’t discount his Assualt ability with that Frost Breath with crit freeze.

Sons of Bragg look to me like really sturdy counter-charge unit. I realize Medium bases cause issues but man, they can be fierce and with 4+ tough and a high enough CMD stat to spread out, they are pretty sweet. Not to mention the spray.

on paper primal sounds great, but honestly i don’t think its that great in trolls. We already had access to plenty of damage buffs.. we also don’t normally like sending in a beast that’s probably going to survive our opponents turn only to have it auto frenzy the next turn.

I do think it will have its applications.. its pretty good for assassination runs with beasts.. your going to end the game anyway and the caster is too far back to use one of our other many ways to knock down, so you need the bonus to MAT. However most of the time I would rather have the pyre troll animus, the slag troll animus or just a simple +2 mat animus (generally doing damage isnt the issue for trolls).
